Last weekend I met with Geertjan from the NetBeans team and we had an interesting discussion about OSGi, the NetBeans module system and JSR 277. Geertjan showed me a blog entry of Mandy Chung, talking about interoperability of JSR 277 and OSGi. if you are interested in this topic, take a look at Mandy’s recent blog entry and also at the blog of Bryan Atsatt. What do you think?
it just shows that JSR 277 is rather doomed and Java should take the advantage of OSGi as it is and not try to glue the fifth wheel to the vehicle 🙂
Actually same applies to JPA and other stuff as well.
@Anton: dito!
i hope – in their own interests – netbeans platform consider moving to OSGi. But i don’t see much effort on this issue at the moment 🙁
@Eugen:
Because you don’t look at the right places 😉 :

Marc Reinhold said that at Devoxx that JSR 277 is practically dead… http://java.dzone.com/news/devoxx-2008-the-major-announce
