Motivation / Objective
The Eclipse Rich Client Platform is a popular base for Java-based desktop clients. In this workshop many advanced topics will be covert. This workshop is highly interactive and includes many practical exercises. Bring your notebook with latest Java JDK installed. Within the training a small but fully functional tutorial application is extended.

- How to build interactive UIs for longer-running background tasks ?
- Data Binding
- How to keep data model and GUI synchronized and consistent?
- How to implement validation, conversion, and error outputs?
- Virtual trees and tables
- Interesting when huge data models to be displayed in trees or tables

- Every Eclipse RCP developer should know how to do this
- p2 – the new Provisioning and Update
- Here we will install the p2 update mechanism in our tutorial application …
- Headless Build (for continuous integration)
- PDE Build (including p2)
- Tycho Build
- Rich AJAX Platform (RAP)
- Within a very short time we will bring our desktop RCP application to the Web
- Look & Feel Theming with CSS
- The CSS Theming for Eclipse 4.0 can be easily adopted for Eclipse 3.x-based applications

Kai Tödter is a Senior Software System Architect at Siemens Building Technologies and he is also a freelancer with lot of Eclipse experience. For almost 18 years he works with Java technologies and for many years with the Eclipse Rich Client Platform. Kai is a world renowned Eclipse RCP expert, represents Siemens in the Eclipse Foundation and is a committer in several open source projects, such as Eclipse Platform UI and Eclipse e4. Kai is also known for his publications in leading journals, his lectures at international conferences and his blog.

Innerhalb des Trainings wird eine kleine aber voll funktionsfähige Tutorial-Applikation erweitert.
